What most reality shows lack in terms of educational value, the scriptwriters make up for this in entertainment? And while you may try to avoid them, we all can’t get enough of the semi-scripted TV shows, like The Bachelor, The Real Housewives, and of course Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
But considering that their reality TV shows have very little plot and less substance, the reality TV market is consistently facing turnover – meaning most of the best Reality TV shows from the early 2000s don’t exist anymore. So, what exactly happened to the reality stars of yesteryears after their shows got canceled? Well, for some reality TV stars like Ashton Kutcher, and axed TV show led to the creation of a venture capitalist firm, but others like Sharon Osborne went back to television.

We all remember Audrina Partridge after her stint as one of the golden girls on The Hills, the Los Angeles-based reality series. Nevertheless, after the show got canceled in 2010, so did Partridge’s TV career. After several more failed on-screen attempts, including when she featured on season 11 of Dancing with the Stars, Partridge finally left showbiz to venture into the world of fashion. Today, Partridge is the CEO and lead designer at Prey Swim, a swimsuit company.
Considering the young Simpson Sister’s dislike for the limelight, especially after he eponymous got axed in the mid-2000s, you would be forgiven for forgetting that Ashlee ever attempted singing.
However, Ashlee Simpson recently announced that would be getting back into the Reality TV and music worlds with her latest album and a new show for E! TV. She also said she would be starting a new clothing line.
Although Stephen Colletti never made it through the third season of Laguna Beach, this never stopped him from pursuing his on-screen career. Since Colletti last appeared in Laguna Beach back in 2005, he left reality TV and landed a few more acting gigs including a stint at the One Tree Hill and an appearance in one of Taylor Swift’s videos. However, after the end of his reality show in 2008, he used his namesake to start a new restaurant in Clinton, Iowa. Unfortunately, his restaurant only stayed afloat for 4 months, but the reality star partnered with other people to open more restaurants Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs and Flavor Flav House of Flavor in 2012.
Unfortunately, because of some bad business mistakes, Flavor Flav made, none of the restaurants is open today.
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey may not have had an amicable breakup after the end of their reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica in 2005, but this does not mean the ex-99 Degrees man was not able to start over again.
After the reality show ended, Lachey channeled his energy into a solo album, remarried, and started a new family with Vanessa Lachey, a fellow actress. Lachey even picked some more hosting gigs on TV shows like The Big Morning Buzz and The SingOff.
Lachey has been doing so well that in 2014, he got into the hospitality industry and opened a bar in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a TV show on A&E documenting the experience. However, the bar isn’t open anymore.

Lauren Conrad was perhaps the most popular of the Hills back in the mid-2000s. She is still known today thanks to her business ventures, book series, and fashion lines. When she isn’t busy with her family, she’s running fashion companies Paper Crown and LC Lauren Conrad.
